Just a little blog about the things I like and use...

Zootie Patootie: No Pants Required!

Baby leg warmers are all the rage right now, and Zootie Patootie has certainly added their spunky style to the mix! They add a little warmth to bare legs under a skirt or shorts, a little protection to crawling knees, and a little attitude to every outfit! They also make diaper changing and potty training a breeze! Choose from "Prep Star" or "Rock Star" patterns and colors--there's something for every personality: girly colors for little princesses, colorful stripes and argyles for little princes, camo for your tough guy, and even pink skull and crossbones for the pirate-ess in your life! The style that sold me, however, was Dino Dudette! How often do you see dinosaur anything for little girls? I LOVE these! There's not another piece in my 1-year-old's wardrobe that has gotten more attention than these leg warmers.

Zootie Patootie doesn't stop at leg warmers, though. They have a selection of fun, funky onesies, Unionzoots, dresses, and hats to match (or mismatch, if that's your kid's style!). Peruse their collection here.

A little cloth diapering short...

Even more from The Natural Baby Co.!

The Natural Baby Co. is one of the best when it comes to earth-friendly products for your wee ones. They have everything from reusable diapering items (LOVE their Wonder Wraps covers!), to fabulous feeding products, to these awesome Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces. My one-year-old is in serious need of one of these! I've never seen a baby suffer as much as she does when new teeth are coming in. : (

The Natural Baby Co.'s most renowned product, however, is it's Gro Baby diapering system. I use it, and I love it! It's my go-to diaper when we're going out of the house (which is often lately...think I need to add to my stash!). Being an innovative and forward-thinking company, The Natural Baby Co. knows that not everyone is up to the task of washing and drying (and washing and drying, and washing and drying...) diapers, so they recently launched the Gro Baby All Natural Biodegradable Soaker Pads. They are a pad that goes inside the Gro Baby shell, that you dispose of after it's soiled. It's composed of a soft, non-woven fabric next to baby's skin, a wood pulp and limited-SAP gel core, and a waterproof, 100% natural biofilm outer. It sticks inside the shell with a gentle adhesive to prevent shifting.

This sounds like a wonderful solution for those who want to cloth diaper, but aren't quite ready to commit to all the laundry that comes with it. It also could be a great solution for parents who have little ones in daycare, as some daycare providers don't want to "do" cloth diapers. These would be no more work than changing a standard disposable. Personally, I'm excited to try these for outings! It would be FABULOUS to not have to carry around a wet/poopy diaper all day in my diaper bag! And think of how this would work on vacation! Just take enough shells to get you through, and some of these Bio Soakers, and you're set! Can you tell I'm excited to try them???

But now you're ready to ask me why these are any better than regular ol' disposables, right? Here's the really cool thing...they're BIODEGRADABLE! You missed that in the name of the product, right? They break down in the landfill in 50-150 days, compared to 500 days for your run-of-the-mill diapers. You can also flush the core! Just tear it open and flush the insides, then throw the outer in the trash. You can also compost it!!! Flush any poop, then throw the soaker pad in your compost bin! Totally awesome!

The Natural Baby Co. has offered to send me some Bio Soakers for free for writing a post about it, and this is that post. If you hurry, maybe you can get in on it, too! Check out the Gro Baby Facebook Fan Page for the rules! Can't wait to try out this awesome new product, and hope you will, too!

I needed some inspiration....

and I got it, in terms of a new friend. She is an avid blogger, and gets paid to write articles for some really cool websites (I'm talking REAL sites, trusted for their information on everything mom, baby and celebrity!). She also has her own review blog, where she reviews all things cool and trendy for parents and kids. As someone who likes to stay in-the-know, I look to her for tips and advice on what's fabulous and new. Basically, she's unknowingly inspired me to start some reviews on my blog, just for fun. Thanks to all my cool deal websites, I'm able to get some great deals on new/trendy/sought-after products, and I'll start posting my thoughts on them here. You'll also probably see some "blogging for stuff/coupon codes/to enter contests" here, too. Time to get to work!

For my bargain friends...

If I know you in real life, then I've already told you about the awesomeness that is MamaBargains. You probably have it bookmarked, and you check in religiously. You stalk their fan page on Facebook, and you find it amusing that your friends now comment on said fan page. Okay, maybe that's just me...

But, seriously, if you haven't already checked them out, go NOW! Even if you aren't pregnant or have little ones of your own, you know someone who is or does. *hint hint, Grandma and Grandpa*

Really, who can resist a super price on highly-sought-after mommy/baby/little kid items? I know I can't! Don't believe me? Ask my husband...

More from The Natural Baby Co.!

Can I just say how much I love The Natural Baby Co.? First, they sent me a free shell/soaker/booster set of their awesome GroBaby diaper. It is awesome! So awesome, in fact, that I ordered additional soakers for this diaper. It's so easy--all you do is change out the wet soaker for a dry one! You can reuse the shell several times before it needs to be washed, cutting way down on the bulk in the laundry (and in the diaper bag!).

I also ordered some of their awesome one-size diaper covers, the Wonder Wrap! I have lots of DryBees Gone Natural bamboo fitted diapers that I love, but needed some more covers for, so I thought I'd give 'em a go. They're great! No leaking, and they fit perfectly! They're soft cloth on the inside, and I was worried that they would start to smell like pee, but they don't! I can reuse them over and over, and they're way less smelly than the Thirsties cover I thought couldn't be beat! And the colors are so cute! I'll have to have another baby so I can see how they fit on a teeny tiny one.

The Natural Baby Co. has another product I'm really interested in...it's a new detergent specially formulated for cloth diapers--Tiny Bubbles! Cute name, huh? I really love love love Country Save for diapers (really, for all our clothes), but I'd love to see how this detergent compares. It has all the makings of a great detergent for diapers--no whiteners/brighteners, safe for sensitive skin, and dye- and fragrance-free (really important for my little one with eczema). I hope to give it a try soon and post back here with the results!

Oh yeah, one more thing on the GroBaby diaper...it does GREAT on the clothesline! It is by far the softest line-dried diaper I have in my stash. Way softer than the crunchy bamboo that has to be softened in the dryer before it can go next to sensitive skin! That right there makes it super-awesome in my book!

Thank you, The Natural Baby Co.! I'm totally impressed with your company!

Gro Baby!

*Update* The diaper is here, prepped and ready. And, man, is it a cute purple color! I will be giving it a try today or tomorrow and will update again then. Excited!

I just recently discovered a cloth diaper called Gro Baby by The Natural Baby Co. I've been participating in an internet scavenger hunt called The Great Cloth Diaper Hunt this month, and this diaper has been all over the sites I've been visiting. I've not yet used this diaper, but it looks awesome! It's a One-Size diaper that grows with your baby. It has an organic cotton inner, with a reusable outer shell and snap-in soaker pad. I've never used a diaper that contains organic cotton, but that sounds awesome. I've pretty much always just used prefolds and covers, but I'm so excited to get the chance to try something a little more fun (and it looks easy to use, too)! According to their website, you only need to change the "shell" twice a day...when baby wets, just snap in a dry soaker and go! And no special washing instructions, either! In fact, their washing directions mirror the wash routine I already use.

I am still on a quest for the perfect diaper...maybe the Gro Baby system is it! Check it out for yourself here.

*The Natural Baby Co. is giving away some of their "pre-production" diapers to people who will write a blog about their diapers. Can't wait to get mine!

My Girls

R.I.P.

A loyal friend...always there when needed...a comforting soul.

But let's not mourn! Let's rejoice and celebrate the new life that comes with this loss!

Big Girl is officially a BIG GIRL!

Yes, readers, Binky has gone to a better place. The top shelf of the linen closet.

BG made a deal with her daddy the Friday before Christmas. We would all go see Santa if she would give up her binky for that night.

She only asked for it once that night, and only a handful of times since then. She hasn't even spoken that name for several days now.

And we are so thankful to finally be done with it.

No more mid-night Binky hunts.

No more making sure Binky is in-pocket before we leave home.

No more searching store after store for the right ones.

But...

No more naps.

No more instant sleep at night.

No more staying in bed all night.

I NEED SLEEP!! Uninterrupted, quiet, blissful, peaceful sleep.

I need a bedtime that doesn't involve crying and screaming. And BG gets pretty upset about it, also.

She's worse about sleeping now than Little Girl is!

*For the record, I tossed the sippy cups the other day, too. So we're free from diapers, Binky and sippys. She's growing up so fast!*
